Case Study 02

WooCommerce + Mailchimp Reminder Workflow

This internship focused on making pre-class reminder emails actually work for a live pottery business. The challenge was to connect purchase timing and class dates well enough that customers could receive the right reminder before their scheduled class.

Objective

Build a practical reminder workflow that could use the client’s existing commerce and email setup to notify customers before a class began, while keeping implementation costs low and accepting some limits in exchange for a working result.

What I completed

  • Worked through the site’s WordPress, WooCommerce, and Mailchimp setup to map how class-date information could drive reminders.
  • Improved search presentation work on the site and paid attention to brute-force pressure on the admin login area.
  • Built a working reminder flow so customers could receive an email before their class date.
  • Documented the design as a workaround with known limits instead of pretending it was perfect.
  • Created something usable for the client without forcing an expensive full-stack rebuild.

What this shows

This project is a good example of how I work when systems are messy: I keep moving toward a practical result, I respect cost constraints, and I document tradeoffs honestly. That matters just as much as building something elegant from scratch.
